The German group Südzucker, one of the three largest German sugar refiners, has entrusted FIVEMASA with the work on its new project at its plant in Tienen (Belgium).

This project consists of the design, manufacture and installation of an SO2 elimination plant for the coal-fired boiler chimney. It currently has particle filtration using an electrofilter, starting from which we have designed a dry process reaction system with injection of lime and subsequent filtration by bag filter for precipitation. In this way, it is guaranteed that the expelled gases are clean when they reach the atmosphere, free of particles and acids.

As from the adjudication in May 2015, the equipment engineering and manufacture is already under way, and the installation is expected to be working in April 2016.  Among other elements, it has a centrifugal ventilator of 315 kW and the total treatment capacity is 115,300 m3/hr.
